Murat Firat has worked in Biomedical Engineering at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and the University Health Network (UHN) He he is currently in the Surgical Support Group, Medical Engineering at UHN, where he has implemented creative approaches to the support of medical technologies, using his excellent engineering and management skills. Murat has served the CMBES as Chair of the Professional Affairs Committee (2002-08), Vice-President (2008-10), President (2010-14) and is currently Past-President. He has led efforts to modernize and grow the Society, including development of the strategic plan, partnering with other Societies and creation of the CMBES forum. Murat is an exemplary leader who has the ability to motivate disparate groups of people "to achieve a common goal, and he does this with such charm and grace that he converts those who are sceptical."
